The criminal justice system in Ontario has long shown evidence of racial and socio-economic disparity. Between insufficient oversight over policing services and limited harm-reduction resources, provincial policing fails to serve all Ontarians equitably.

Call for a Provincial Inquiry into the Ottawa Police Service response to the 2022 occupation of Ottawa

Introduce legislation to increase civilian police oversight powers in Ontario

Amend the Police Services Act to give Police Service Boards greater disciplinary powers over officers in relation to misconduct

Increase Ontario’s first response capacity and invest in alternative forms of first response

Develop a provincial strategy to address and correct the disproportionately high rates of Indigenous and Black people in the criminal justice system and ensure anti-discriminatory and culturally specific services for Indigenous and Black people

Increase funding to restorative justice programs available to Indigenous, Black and other racialized people
